Secondary Admissions

Find out how to apply for a school place in our state-funded Secondary: Years 7 to 11 (S1 to S5)

Before you apply, we request that you consider very carefully the long-term, whole-family commitment involved. We encourage you to look closely at our curriculum and find out more about becoming bilingual. Learning in two languages is a wonderful opportunity but it will be hard work and needs your full commitment.

Year 7 In Year Application 2023 - Bug in the system
We have been made aware there is a problem applying for year 7 on the Oxfordshire County Council website. It either makes you go round in a loop, sends you to the schools homepage and does not let you find Europa School on the schools drop down menu. If you have any problem, please contact the council on Email – admissions.schools@oxfordshire.gov.uk Telephone – 0345 241 2487

As an all-through school, all secondary applications (apart from 6th form), including those for Year 7, are treated as so-called in-year applications. These can be submitted via the county council in the first week of June. Responses are usually given in July, as the county council needs some time to process all applications for Oxfordshire county council. We do NOT participate in the first round of applications, so you will need to apply for another school in October.

Science, Maths, English and Philosophy are taught in English. History and Geography are taught in the second language (French, German or Spanish) in year 7 or (French, German) in year 8, 9, 10 & 11. An extra language (L3) is introduced from Year 7 as a new language.

Please bear in mind that the level of the second language (French, German or Spanish) is a lot higher than that in most other UK schools, at a near bilingual level.

Year 7 Entry

Generally, we have a few places, and we expect a higher turnover than other year groups. New applications for secondary, including Yr 7, will need to be submitted as an in-year transfer the first week of June. Having a good knowledge of French, German or Spanish is not part of the admissions criteria, however, your child will have to work very hard to get to the expected level when admitted.

For year 7, you will need to apply for – and accept – another school place, which will be released when Europa School UK can offer your child a place. Responses are usually sent out around mid-July.
